Manville, NJ Ducts and Dryer Vents Where the Rivers Meet
Manville sits where the Millstone River runs into the Raritan, a Somerset County borough of 10,953 people at the 2020 census on 2.45 square miles. Its basements have taken river water in storm after storm, and its postwar houses and two-family homes carry that history.
The borough was created by the Legislature and a local referendum in 1929 and named for the Johns-Manville Corporation, which kept a large plant here for decades. Census estimates date most of Manville's housing to the years before 1970, with the 1950s the busiest decade, and about a quarter of its homes stand in two-unit buildings. Main Street, County Route 533, carries many businesses serving the borough's Polish American community, and no U.S. or state highway crosses town.
