Millstone is the least populous municipality in Somerset County, 448 people at the 2020 census on 0.70 square miles of the Millstone River's west bank. It was the county seat, called Somerset Courthouse, until British troops burned it in 1779, and a historic district still lines Amwell and River Roads.
The borough was incorporated in 1894 and named for its river. Ask the borough's Historic District Commission first. We usually suggest a side or rear wall where the hood will not show from the street, and plan the inside run to reach it. Once the commission is satisfied, the installation proceeds.
