Branchburg is a Somerset County township of 14,940 people at the 2020 census, spread over 20.3 square miles and named for the place where the North Branch and South Branch of the Raritan meet. Half of its homes went up in the 1980s and 1990s, and two old villages inside it are now historic districts.
The township was set off on its own in 1845 and held its first town meeting at the White Oak Tavern, a stagecoach stop. Our Branchburg house was built in the late 1980s and the ducts were never cleaned. Is that overdue?
